WELCOME

Smart Technologies By Design
SMART is a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
The project is aimed at developing new competencies for all levels of SME managers, developers, designers, marketers, and their mentors or trainers on how to drive deep-tech businesses in one very fast-growing market - smart cities. It is focused on the penetration of smart city technologies and disruptive innovations in the cities and how that results in the creation of new needs and requirements for new skills.
With the outcomes of the project, the trainers and smart city innovators are armed with resources that make the process of training, mentoring and networking easier and more efficient. You are welcome to use the resources of this project reading our news and articles, participating in our meetings and seminars, and testing and using our final outputs.

Mapping the disruption innovations in cities
The project provides an easy for understanding and learning overview and analysis of how digital and disruptive innovations do shape the smart city concept. The map includes the results generated by the focus group and corrected later by the partners with the results from the research on the technologies advances, level of change and impact, performance, purpose, and fit.

Case studies collection and focus groups
Each partner in the project selects two or three deep-tech / smart-tech SMEs, provides interviews with their managers/owners to create a state-of-the-art case study. The case studies are used at the focus group at the process of mapping the needs and expectations for disruptions in the cities, in the seminars, in the staff training and in other dissemination channels.

Creating a competence framework
The project develops a capabilities framework of smart innovations with the key competencies, skills, and knowledge needed by the smart city innovators (deep-tech company's managers, trainers, etc.). The framework is a base for the training package the project disseminates throughout the target groups over Europe.

Developing a training package
The package consists of a program, assessment tools, thesaurus, and training materials elaborated for the target groups of trainees. The main part is the program. Based on a very practical, experiential learning approach it is tailored to the needs of smart city innovators. In order to have longer-term benefits, the project will ensure open access to the training program of a broader number of managers & trainers as well as inclusion of more advanced cases for smart cities implementing disruptive innovations in their development.
